*What are locust?
Locust is an insect that is quite similar to grasshopper and cricket, in fact, all these insects belong to the same family. Locusts are generally found in deserts. when it is present alone, it looks like this-:
this is called a solitary phase but when they are present in crowds, and the environmental condition is congenial, then they transform from solitary phase to gregarious phase.

*The swarms of these locusts are created in their gregarious phase and they destroy everything.

*The locust is a kind of species which have a more economic impact on the earth as compared to any other animal species.
*The regions in which these locusts are mostly found.

*Cause of recent locusts attack in India.
*Climate change is responsible for the locust's attack. The Indian Ocean is warming up extremely due to climate change. The heating of water in the Indian ocean causes heavy rainfall in East-Africa around the time of December 2019. Due to heavy rainfall, the right environmental condition is created for the locusts to transform from the solitary phase to the gregarious phase.
*So the locusts began to breed in a huge amount and a plague hit East-Africa in around February 2020. After this, these swarms of locusts began to travel in the east towards Iran then Pakistan, and now by the time of May, these locusts swarm has begun its move towards India.
*They wouldn't have normally traveled in this way but they moved in this direction because of the cyclone winds. Because of this, states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana have been affected.
*Measures to avoid locust.
*Spraying pesticides and insecticides on them.
*Use any kind of loud pitch voice. The get rid of locusts.
*Collecting them and use them as a chicken feed.
